Santa Rosa is on Olango Island in the Cebu region. Santa Rosa is only 10 minutes by boat from our Scotty's Dive Center Headquarters on Mactan Island, which is only 4 kilometers (2 nautical miles) heading 139° on the compass.
The first thing you will notice about Santa Rosa, will no doubt be the pier. It is very long, and it is where visitors arrive on and leave from Olango Island.
Santa Rosa is Olango Island's main barangay, but there are few accommodations. For example, there is a grassy tent campgrounds where you can stay overnight. Consider an overnight stay in Santa Rosa as part of your package tour.
Snorkeling at Santa Rosa
Santa Rosa's coral reef is a nursery. Bring your underwater camera to capture all stages of juvenile fish development. This includes eggs, larvae, fry, and fingerlings. And, of course, there is a great variety of adult fishes.
The sandy snorkeling plateau ranges from 5 meters (15 feet) to 18 meters (60 feet) in depth. The juvenile fishes, in particular, are great macro lens photography subjects.
Santa Rosa is also a great place to relax on a bangka boat. And while picnicking on the boat, you can observe the different sized boats (some are hudge) passing thru the Hilutungan Channel.
