Cambuhat River Tour

Oyster Farms at Cambuhat River

Discovering the Cambuhat River

Touring the Cambuhat River and Village, Bohol

Cambuhat River A Cambuhat River and Village Tour offers a break from large crowds and busy, daily lifestyles. Instead encounter a quiet, simple life. Avoid crowds, because many Bohol tour packages do not yet include this destination.

Ride a small boat down the Daet River to Cambuhat Village, Bohol. A 3-person boat fits 2 passengers with a paddler/tour guide. The boat ride is a 30-40 minute, 2 kilometer (1 nautical mile) journey. Your destinations are an oyster farm and a village.

Your package tour may include stops at other Bohol destinations. Visit Loon's Nuesta Senora de la Luz Church or Maribojoc's Punta Cruz watchtower. It may also include a tour of the Loboc River.

Cambuhat River is at 35 kilometers (20 nautical miles) from our headquarters in Mactan, which takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes by boat to reach Cambuhat River.

What to see at Cambuhat River?

Learn about oyster farming on your river tour. Paddle past a watchtower guarding the oysters from poachers. Your tour guide will also talk about preservation of the river, mangroves, and estuary.

When your river cruise ends, local women will welcome you to Cambuhat Village. Enjoy an "al fresco" lunch of oysters, other seafood, soup, fried chicken, and rice. Wash it all down with buco (coconut) juice. Locals will sing songs during your lunch.

Finish with a walking tour of the village. Learn about loom weaving, broom making, mat making, and the making of other local crafts. The village's name, buhat, means "to make," and the locals sure make many products.

Your Cambuhat River Excursion

Cambuhat River what to visit On your river tour you, or your guide, will paddle through mangroves, palms, and vines. Marvel at the cleanliness of the water. Along the way you will pass shrimp and mud crab traps and have a chance to do some bird watching.

You will learn the Buri dance on your Cambuhat River and Village Tour. The Buri dance depicts buri making. Locals consume more buri than coconut.

There are surprises in store. Cambuhat Village has a recycling program. Fruits and vegetables grow everywhere, eliminating hunger. Wild bamboo and other vegetation help grow the economy. Also, there is an association for locals to share ideas for improving this project.
