Wasterski: Water-Skiing on tropical waters
Water-skiing is like snow skiing, except trading snow-covered mountains for tropical water surfaces. Propulsion is by speed boat instead of gravity.
Water-skiing is a very fun sport. With a waterski, you "sit" in the water and put your skis on. You continue to "sit" in the water until your boat pulls you into a standing position. Thus, the fun starts before you even get under way!
Once you do get under way, speeds vary based on your age and ability. Children may water-ski as slow as 11 knots (21 kilometers per hour, 13 miles per hour). Competitors, though, may go as fast as 100 knots (190 kilometers per hour, 120 miles per hour).
As you gain water-skiing experience, you can go faster and learn tricks. You can trade two water skis for one monoski, or you can even try barefoot water-skiing!
