Here is a complete list of diver level tec programs on offer from Scotty’s Action Sport, for instructor level tec training please click here or contact the Instructor trainer directly. If you are already a certified tec diver and would like to view some of the tec dives on offer in the local and surrounding areas please click here.
This is your first step into the world of technical diving, people go tec for a variety of reasons, the challenge, to extend depth and/or time range, try new equipment or simply be a better trained and safer diver.
During this course you will learn all about the new gear you will be using, a set of twin tanks with an isolator manifold, backplate harness and wing style BCD. Covered in detail are the principles of decompression diving, safety drills, desktop decompression software and much more.

Not included in this course are your required materials the Tec Deep diver manual. As the book is a bit more detailed than your materials for other courses such as open water many students prefer to buy this book before their course and get a head start, if you prefer we can order this for collection when you arrive.
You must be 18 years or older, medically fit for diving and hold the following:
- Advanced diver certification
- Enriched air certification
- Deep diver certification (or show proof of at least 10 dives to 30 metres)
- Have a minimum of 30 logged dives, of which at least 10 were made with nitrox deeper than 18 metres
Following what you learned in the Tec 40, or other entry level tec program, the Tec 45 course teaches you to plan and execute repetitive decompression dives using desktop decompression software to a maximum depth of 45 meters, the time limits placed on your allowable deco time are now removed.
Accelerated decompression, that is switching to a higher percentage of O2, is covered in this course. You will decompress using blends up to 100% oxygen to reduce the amount of decompression time required.
In addition to further refining the skills you will have already learned additional skills such as tec specific rescue drills.

- Tec 40 or equivalent
- Have a minimum of 50 logged dives, of which at least:
- 12 dives were made with nitrox deeper than 18 metres
- 6 (with or without EANx) dives were deeper than 30 metres
The Tec 50 course completes PADI’s Tec Deep program, this certification denotes a very high level of skill and knowledge.
During this program you will learn to plan and execute accelerated single and repetitive accelerated decompression dives using two deco gases up to and including 100% oxygen, and create primary and backup dive plans using desktop deco software.
This certification is also a prerequisite for other technical programs including Trimix and some closed circuit rebreather programs.

Sidemount diving is a gear configuration originally used by cave divers to reduce their profile, allowing access to smaller spaces. In recent times the configuration has found its way into open water technical and recreational diving because the benefits it brings with it such as the added safety of having your tank valves right in front of you allowing faster and easier responses to leaks, also without the isolator manifold, used by tec divers with twin tanks, the sidemount diver now has true redundancy, separate tanks. Other benefits are:
- Easier transport out of water
- Reduced back strain
- Easier buoyancy
- Simpler gear configuration and layout
- Smaller and lighter gear bags, sidemount kit is tiny
The tec sidemount course provide you with the skills needed to use sidemount for both recreational and technical diving, with one tank, four tanks or more, this course also includes simulated decompression making it perfect to refresh deco planning and execution skills or introduce them to budding tec divers.
The PADI Tec sidemount course compliments your current level of diver training allowing you to use sidemount kit within the confines of your training and experience.

You must be 18 years or older, medically fit for diving and hold the following:
- Advanced diver certification
- 30+ logged dives
This course opens up the world of deep decompression diving using Trimix for divers who are already certified to use air and EANx for decompression diving.
During this course you will learn to make and execute decompression dives to a maximum depth of 65 meters using a Trimix blend with 18% O2, this is serious stuff for serious divers!

You must be 18 years or older, medically fit for diving and hold the following:
- Rescue diver
- Tec 50 or equivalent
- Have logged at least 100 dives
This course allows you to do exactly what most of us got into diving for, to go somewhere few people on earth ever do, and see things reserved for those privileged few.
Tec Trimix diving is the niche for an extreme group of people operating on the outer edge of scuba diving, its full potential is still yet to be fully understood.
During this course you will be planning and executing accelerated decompression dives to depths of up to 90 meters using hypoxic blends of Trimix to extend your depth range.

You must be 18 years or older, medically fit for diving and hold the following:
- Rescue diver
- Tec 50 or equivalent
- At least 100 logged dives
This course allows you to develop or build upon existing technical diving skills whilst learning how to drive your rebreather.
Rebreathers are increasing in popularity and use as divers notice the benefits or recycling gas and a constant PPO2.
If you are considering which unit to purchase we use and recommend the vision from AP diving, contact us for more details.
