IDC Program pre-requisites
There are a few boxes that need to be ticked, some before you start the course and some before you graduate. Either way it is better to get as much as possible done before the IDC start date in order to reduce any undue stress and lower your workload.
- Medical clearance You will need clearance from a physician for diving before you can begin this course, the following form must be signed as fit for diving with no exceptions. (Medical Clearance Form). The form must be signed and dated by a doctor and the date must be within 24 months of the IE completion date. We can direct you to doctors available locally that provide this service from as little as 250.00 PHP.
- CPR & First Aid You will need a CPR and First aid training certification dated within 24 months of the IE completion date. EFR Primary & Secondary Care with Care for Children is preferred. If you do not have this please let us know, we can provide any additional training needed.
- Logged dives You will need to show proof of at least logged 100 dives; we will also need to see evidence that you have experience in night diving, underwater navigation and deep diving. If you have any concerns about this please let us know, additional training is available if needed.
- Certifications You will need to bring proof of your diving certifications, you need to have been certified for at least 6 months and be at least 18 years of age.
- Dive Leader Remember for this course you need to have a dive-leader level certification, such as PADI Divemaster. If your certification is from an organization other than PADI you may need to complete a rescue skills assessment. If you are unsure if your certifications meet the requirements please let us know and we will advise you accordingly.
- E-learning If you opt for the e-learning IDC (recommended) please ensure you sign up for and complete all sections of the PADI IDC e-learning program before the start of the IDC. You may enroll here (PADI E-learing). For more information on e-learning click here. We highly recommend this option, the IDC has a lot of information for you to process, completing the e-learning ahead of time significantly reduces your workload.
- Equipment You may find that you have some equipment to purchase, click here for a complete list of required equipment. The earlier you start shopping, the more chance you have to get the gear you want for the price you prefer, remember your gearing up for tropical waters, leave your dry suit in the closet.
