The IDC team at Scottys welcome you to the next step in your professional training, your life is about to change for the better! Choosing to become a professional dive instructor is a big step and requires a considerable investment of your time and finances. We are here to help ensure this is a fun and challenging experience for you and to help ease you into your new career.
Our multi-national team of Dive and IDC staff is here to provide a support network for you as a new dive instructor. Our Mactan facility, located within the grounds of the Shangri La (only 15 minutes taxi ride from Cebu international airport), is designed to provide you with the perfect environment to undertake PADI’s most challenging course, the PADI IDC.
Our IDC team itself is chosen depending on the requirements, strengths and weaknesses of the group itself. Chosen from our team of Master Instructors and PADI IDC staff instructors, our aim is to accommodate everyone’s individual needs under the direction of the Course Director. If you need more individual attention, you’ll get it!
We are a 5 star facility providing a service that deserves the title, we have thought through every step of your IDC. Our promise to you is we will make every effort to ensure you successfully complete the program in a comfortable, relaxed environment. Our instructors will deliver the PADI curriculum to you in a professional manner aimed at providing you with the knowledge not only to pass your instructor exams, but to graduate as a capable dive professional, after all our students provide us with the reputation we enjoy.
No doubt you are considering several dive schools for your IDC, and by now you would have read many promises about high pass rates, guaranteed exam passes, guaranteed job placements and such. What we guarantee you is that we will provide you with all of the support and resources you need to get through your Instructor exams successfully, every bit of help you need will be available, the rest is up to you. No one can guarantee you a job placement (unless they intend to employ you themselves) but we will use our considerable list of contacts within the industry to help find you that first job, whilst your looking your welcome to participate in a free internship and work with our team of instructors learning first-hand how they teach courses.
Mactan, just 30 minutes by public transport from Cebu city, provides all of the facilities of a large town but without all the hustle and bustle. Cebu itself has all of the distractions you could hope for in the Philippines second largest (and best) city. With several large malls, retail parks, restaurants, bars and a few dive retail outlets for last minute equipment shopping.
There are choices of accommodation to suit every taste and budget, from 5 star hotels, to rooms on a monthly rental basis. We recommend hotel accommodation to start, and perhaps finding something more long term to suit your preferences after you arrive. As a very rough guide, a basic furnished room can be found locally (depending on availability) from 5000.00 to 10,000.00 pesos per month. A basic pension style hotel room can be found from 700 per night upwards.
