Hilutungan Sanctuary

Another of the small islands across from Mactan to the east, Hilutungan has an intesresting fringing reef from 5 to 22 meters. There are a good variety of invertebrates and resident schools of bat fish, barracuda, oriental sweetlips, and midnight snappers. Recently a three-metre thresher shark was spotted at 25 meters just at the base of the drop off. The site varies from a more gradual decline to a vertical wall and is suitable for novie and experienced divers.
