Tambuli Fish Feeding Station
The initial descent can be made in 5-6 meters of water where of water where the diver will be greeted by a school of hungry multicolored wrasses and sergeant majors looking for a handout. The bottom at this depth is predominately sand and eel grass interspered with large rocks and coral heads. Groups of small greenish rabbit fish are found foraging in the grass. It is interesting to note how their color closely matches the grass, making for excellent camouflage.
From here, the descent continues along a gradual slope until a depht of 10 metres where the terrain drops more steeply and becomes much richer in corals, sponges anemones and other invertebrates. The many damsels and small reef fish that occupy most of the coral sites in Mactan are to be found here. At the drop-off are large schools of fusiliers, unicorn fish, anthias, and small barracudas. From the drop-off, down ro 25 metres are shools of 15 inch long rabbit fish, emperors, and the occasional diagram sweetlips. |
Other interesting that may appear are squid, octopus, snakes, moray eels, cornet fish, and larger barracudas. With its gradual slope, this site is suitable for novice divers, but with the richness of life available, advanced divers will also enjoy it. This is also an excellent night dive location. |
